Description

Belfair is a private golf club community located in Bluffton, South Carolina just minutes from Hilton Head Island and just a half hour drive from Beaufort, South Carolina or Savannah, Georgia. Belfair was established in 1811 when William Telfair of Savannah married a Bellinger. The Bellinger and Telfair names were united to name their new plantation, Belfair. Belfair was originally a country estate and working plantation devoted to agriculture. The long Avenue of the Oaks that marks Belfair's entrance is a well known landmark for this beautiful private golf club community. These magnificent oaks were planted in the 1920's and have now fully matured to their grand stature creating a drive through the oaks that is breathtaking.Belfair today consists of 730 homesites and a maximum membership of 770. Belfair has two nationally recognized golf courses that begin and end at the Clubhouse and traverse the short of the Colleton River and marshland.The Jim Ferree Golf Learning Center at Belfair is an expansive 29 acre practice and teaching facility where Belfair members and their guests can practice any and every shot they might confront on the course. There is an indoor driving suite fully equipped with video swing analysis technology.Belfair also boasts a fully equipped 9,200 square foot Fitness & Sports Center offering indoor and outdoor pools, a complete selection of fitness equipment, programs and classes. The activity center features six Har-Tru tennis courts, outdoor soccer/lacrosse field, a playground for children and more.Beyond the golf and stunning landscapes that Belfair is known for is the Clubhouse with all of its amenities. The 32,000 square foot Lowcountry style clubhouse provides formal and informal dining areas, locker rooms, steam room, card rooms and a golf pro shop. The dining at Belfair is considered outstanding. July will bring the annual Players Amateur at Belfair golf tournament. It is one of the top five amateur tournaments in the U.S.
